Ok, I bought a 1999 93SE with 50K miles on it. I like it but dont love it. The dealership that I purchased it from has a love it or leave it policy whereby I can exchange for equal or greater value to another car.
The other car is a 2000 93 SE with 18K miles on it. Same color (imola red) the 2000 has a 5 speed and the 99 has an automatic.
I paid $19,500 for the 99 with an extended warranty that takes me 6 years or 100K miles. I have had it in the shop for the sunroof which stopped working suddenly, a noise in the front end, rough idiling, and peeling clearcoat. (I also found out that it was in an accident, of course the dealership has no details on that). So, I am not loving it, but I dont hate it either.
They are asking 24,695 for the 2000, but I think I can get it for 23K. The only problem I can see with it is that it was obviously owned by a heavy smoker.
Since they are the same color, they look very similar side by side apart from the upgraded cosmetics of the 2000 model. I cant help feeling when looking at them this way "if I cant tell the difference, should I pay the difference?".
Driving them of course is completely diffent and the 2000 seems to have a lot more power. After driving sticks for the last 10 years the Automatic was kinda nice but lacked the thrill you get from a 5 speed. Plus the Mrs. cant drive it.
Anyway I need to make a decision VERY soon so I would appreciate any feedback.
BTW, I have been driving a 2001 95 SE for the last week and a half while I wait on my car, its a really nice car. The sport mode is very noticable and seems far more response than in the 93.
Thanks for your time.
