When I leased my 2000 9-3SE, I was mad at myself for not test driving the car where I live. I live in DC, but the dealer was way out in Laurel, MD. The streets in Laurel are much better than those in DC. The sales manager called me the next day to ask how I liked the car. I said it rides terribly, and I'm not happy. He told me to bring it back, and they would switch the wheels and tires with a 9-3 Coupe. I could then take it home and see if that helped. (The coupe had the 5-spoke 15" wheels with Michelin MXV 195-60-15 tires.) I took him up on his offer and kept the 15" wheels. The higher sidewall of the 195-60-15 tires helps to soften the ride somewhat. However, I'm still not satisfied overall with the ride. I think the problem is the suspension on the 9-3 is dated, and the body structure is not as tight as more up-to-date cars. This contributes to both a bumpy ride and a noisy ride. Let's hope the next generation 9-3 is better.
