I have 14K on my car and so far, no problems. As for the torque steer, you'll definitely notice it a lot more if you put 16inch alloys/snows on the car. With the OEM rims, it's really not that bad.

My only issues were a squeaky rear seat (fixed by shoving a towel down the back, a strange creaking from the roof above the right rear seat (not sure much can be done about that), and a valet parker that scraped one of my 17 inch rims. Unfortunately, I don't think I can pull the "this wheel is pitting and chipping" line with my dealer since it looks like a scrape. I will have it refinished this winter. (Granted, I wish I still had the 17s on the car, as it was 70 here in Boston yesterday!!).

Great car, great performance, good fuel economy, and unique...M3s and S4s, BE GONE!! (well, OK, I'd take an M3 convertible in a heartbeat...)
