I have a 2000 9-3SE. I've driven BMW 3-Series numerous times. Here's my opinion of the 325i in a nutshell:
BMW 325i Pro's:
Engine smoothness and sound
Rear wheel drive for better dry road handling
Near 50-50 weight distrbution
Suspension
Performance
Quality
Re-sale
BMW 325i Con's:
Lousy seats! (only 6-way with Premium Package, no lumbar adjustment)
Price quickly goes up with options
Small backseat
A lot of them on the street
Rear wheel drive (not as good in snow)
Saab 9-3SE Pro's:
Great seats
Strong acceleration
Hatchback versatility
Big discounts
Not everyone has one
Safety features
Saab 9-3SE Con's:
Terrible resale value
Dated suspension and chasis
Ride is stiff and loud
Ergonomics aren't the best (i.e. placement of switches, cupholders, etc.)
