I had a similar problem with my brakes at about 20,000 miles. When the service guy called me, I told him to do nothing until he heard from me.
My next call was to SAAB USA in Georgia. I told them that 20,000 miles on a set of brake pads was unacceptable. I not only wanted the pads replaced under warranty, but I wanted further work done to make sure the problem wasn't in the calipers or rotors, which are even more expensive.
The next day I received a call from SAAB. They agreed to pick up the tab for the front brakes and contacted the dealer to start the work.
Whether the fact you had 26,000 miles makes a difference, I don't know. A friend of mine had a similar problem, but she was unable to get SAAB or the dealer to reimburse her, because she had already paid for the work.
It shouldn't make a difference, but to SAAB, it does.
Good Luck
