I don't make up things about shifters, my car, and driving around the track either. I drive a lot of cars, ranging from Porsches to more humble everyday machines. The Saab has a shifter that compares very nicely with other cars in its class. I've owned cars that had lousy shifters and never felt a need to defend them. I hate to see the 9-3 shifter put down when it feels like the other cars in the same class. Ever watch an A-4 shifter move around or even a BMW 3-series? They do. If you want a bad shifter try driving an Opel Corsa or an older Ford Escort. I hated the shifters on my air cooled VWs, particularly my 77 Bus. If you want a great shifter, drive a MX-5 Miata or an S2000. For that matter, Honda builds some wonderful shifters, but I have occasionally driven a Civic that was horrible, but that can be explained by an out of adjustment clutch. Sorry if it messes up your perceptions, but my 9-3 shifter was perfect this morning at the Nurburgring. It does quite well the rest of the time too.
