hi,
i have posted this two weeks ago, but the response wasnt saytisfying....trying once more.
are there some (even though marginal) disadvantages due to recommended first oil change at a new engine after 10-15 thousand kilometers only? in the past, usually the oil had to be changed first time after 1-3 thousand kilometers, to float away all the rests of production and worn metall during the bedding-in phase.
despite of new production methods, very low tolerance and deviation, there is still an amount of metall-particles during the first thousand kilometers. are these particles present in "new produced" engines nowadays, and are they restless filtered by the oil filter, so that there is 0 influence/"damage" to the engine comparing e.g. with the an additional change after 1000-2000 km?
or is it so, that the factories prefer more the philosophy "easy-car-use-from-first-kilometer" and accept certain disadvantages (slightly more wear) for the engine during the bedding-in phase due to the first oil filling use for 10-15 thousand km (and not for 1-2 thousand)?
does it make sense and does it bring some essential improvement - despite the factory-recommendation - to change the oil after first approx. 1000-2000 km?
this is probably a general question, but in my concrete case, i am speaking about new 9-3 tid.
thanks for your comments
best regards
peter
