The "dreaded" end-of-lease inspection

With some regrets, I turned in my leased 1999 9-3 this week. I made arrangements for the end-of-lease inspection, performed by Vehicle Inspection Services. I had read earlier posts on inspections and was a bit apprehensive about what might happen, but I wasn't overly concerned because my car was in good shape--no dents and a clean interior (even with kids!)
I've read that some people were intending to "refuse" the inspection, but there has to be a way for Saab to know about the condition of the car at the end of the lease. They could do this themselves, or have a third party do it. They have chosen the latter method.
I found the inspector to be thorough and professional. He inspected the car inside and out; he also opened the trunk and the engine. He started the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
He made a lot of notations on his Pocket PC. When all was said and done, he asked me to sign the computer screen, indicating that he had performed the inspection. When I asked him what he found, he said "nothing." I was relieved but not surprised.
So if your car is in good shape, I wouldn't worry to much about the inspection.
