Seems the factory spec oil change intervals and dino oil are gelling oil. As far as I'm concerned it's viscosity additive failure and/or excessive heat (what causes it is another issue, either inadequate/compromised cooling or restricted oil passages or take your pick!)

Last time I saw this was in 1964 when we cooked a 1959 Plymouth
Sport Suburban 383-4V V8 engine in 500mi after oil change with Citgo 10W-40. Multi vis oil had just come out and they evidently had a bad batch of additives. Citgo paid for a new engine rebuilt and we peddled the car and got a new Chrysler Newport station wagon (I tried and tried to get the 440 NewYorker but Dad wouldn't go for it) and ended the problem.
