Ok, now that I got your attention, my 2001 9-3 Convertible has given me yet ANOTHER HUGE problem today. My A/C crapped out, and shortly after the chime went off. As I pulled over, fumes started coming from the hood!!! It got towed to the dealer, but it was after business hours so I guess I'll find out what other problem I have to deal with.
In 15 months of ownership, my $43,000 convertible, which I bought BRAND NEW, has been nothing but trouble. I love the new 9-3SS, but I can't see myself in another Saab after all of these problems, and the ignorance on Saab's byhalf and poor service.
All of the following have been warranty repairs
- new ecu (car wouldn't start)
- new ignition cassette (car wouldn't start)
- new starter
- new convertible top hydraulics (top stayed down when the rain came in)
- new tranny (clutch, flywheel, everything! and saab wanted to charge me $1700 until I got my attorney on the line!!!)
- new shifter rod (couldn't get into Reverse or third)
- new handrake mechanism (handbrake would just fall back into place)
- new right front headlight washer mechanism (I didn't care much for this, but just ANOTHER problem)
- cheap plastic seat housing cracked three times
- AND NOW A/C BUSTED AND MYSTERY FUMES FROM HOOD.

I will be speaking with Saab to see if they will be my car back. If they give me another Saab, I would be willing to consider another Saab when the lease is up if this new Saab prooves to be reliable. I am sure I got the crapper of the assembly line that day.

Any suggestions as to what the busted a/c and fumes are?

Jose
