I've noticed it takes a long time for my '99 9-3 to reach proper operating temperature. Now that the weather has cooled it takes even longer. In fact this morning, while at a long light, the temp gauge reached normal temp, then when I started driving again it dropped some. For something that puts out an incredible amount of heat into the cabin (even with the heat off) it seems strange it would do that. Something else that makes me wonder: on a recent trip back from the mountains, there is a 5 mile downhill stretch where you can just coast (still in gear of course) and hit 70 mph easy. I noticed the gauge dropped WAY low going down the hill. I wonder if it's stuck open? Is there an easy way to tell, or does the ECU diagnose/check that on startup like it seems to check everything else? Thanks,
