Just got my 1999 9-3 back from the dealer for the same problem. Done under warranty, I noted that the job was 6.7 hours (the greasy finger prints are the legacy of a fully disassembled dash to do the work!!) and the parts were over $C200 so it is an expensive fix. As they disconnected the battery to do the job thus the radio was without power so my previous concern about not having "The Radio Code" that I was used to using after a battery disconnect on my 1996 900S was unwarranted. As long as the same radio is in the car when the battery is reconnected they automatically remarry!! Now I have to wait for a new turn indicator switch as my doesn't self cancel unless I turn beyond a full left or right turn. Little by little they are rebuilding the car but most are cosmetic type changes (they even replaced the 'mac-tac' covering on the driver's door 'B' pillar as it was buckling! I love the car, much different than the 1996, it seems to 'drive lighter' handling closer to my 1987 900TC than the '96 did.
