Welcome to the way the Viggen typically is. You do get used to the tranmission after a while, but it is less than user friendly to use sometimes. My car has 19,700 on it, and the car hasn't had the issues that other Viggen transmissions have. I drove a 9-3SE convertible and found the transmission to be lighter in its shifting.
Quick shifts simply aren't possible, and be prepared for some rubberyness and clunkiness. But in the grand scheme of things, I think it's better than a VW Golf, and on par with the woodenness of the A4/S4 tranmissions.
Regards,
Paul H.
