Your assumption is that it's Sweden that prices the cars and that SCUSA is fighting for the right price the first time, very noble, but I suspect as in the Coke/New Coke marketing hoax, that the introduction of incentive based selling is much more Machiavellian (sp?) and simply delayed for PR reasons and/or until after the introduction of the full model line or a price increase. Price increases are a good tool for stimulating sales of old price cars.
What you say about resale is right on! When you compare the price of a used Saab to the actual price the car sold for new, it's not bad, decidedly average. As the cars that tout their resale value are considerably more expensive, the actual dollar amount of depreciation for a comparable model on a Saab could be similar or less.
