I called SAAB finance to ask if the GM supplier program would work on a lease residual. I figured that the certificate might help me get to the bottom line without a two month negotiation. I hardly got to say anything before the SAAB rep asked what's my mileage and blurted that SAAB does not negotiate residuals. They couldn't answer my question so I called SAABcars customer service. They did not know the answer either, but completely contradicted SAAB finance by stating (as I already knew) that residuals are absolutely negotiable and I had been given false information. The residual is a maximum amount that can be paid. Now that the 03's are out, the retail on the cars coming off lease are falling off the cliff, so I plan on dropping the car off at the dealership at lease end so that they can figure out to do with the gap between the residual and retail on their own.
