I am not on the 9-3 board very often as I own a 9-5. That is why I have not heard of you before, though you seem to be a regular here.
As to your reply to my inquiry, my searching for recent sale prices on new cars has nothing at all to do with the privacy issues you raised. Just like when you bought your house, a good consumer will go and find out what the market conditions are. What prices prevail and what the supply and demand situation is.
I am in no way requesting any personal data from you. I am not investing in your buisiness so I am not looking for that information either. I am about to spend a lot of money. So I am going to be careful.
While I do not want to indict the entire car sale industry, believe me a consumer had better be very careful. Last year I had to walk out of a dealer because he tried to rob me, by low balling the price of the car and trying to require the sale of a added warrenty at a highly inflated price. I can see how they get people that way. If you don't look carefully at the numbers it's easy to hide an extra thousand or to over a 5 year period ($16/mo per $1000, approx).
And now back to the issue, I want the one sold at "invoice" price with the $2000 rebate that will be offered next month, or the month after, why should I have to pay more just because saab hasn't decided to "boost" sales yet and lower their overpriced car. And by the way, that $2000 is a manufacturers rebate, and belongs "below the line", it should not be part of the dealers price negotiation. But how often does the consumer see that?
