The 235 tire would be used with the shorter sidewall ratio of 40 series. The overall height of the tire would be shorter than stock. So any rubbing would probably only happen at the edges during full turns. As far as sluggish steering, I wonder why bmw would specify that exact tire/rim sized combo on their sportiest model (M3) if it felt sluggish? Given the cost of tires I probably won't take chances either. But we all know the viggen could use that extra 20mm of tire width for traction. Darn..that is almost 1 inch wider.
