I have a couple thou' on a set of Bridgestone RE-730 GII and they are doing quite well on my '99 HOT. Good grip and excellent noise (as in none) so far.
The original 730's were noisy after 50% tread use but the Generation II have reportedly resolved that one fluke. I had two sets prior and thought the noise was liveable but still high. Grip was very consistent through the life of the tire and continued to deliver really good performance. Got about 25K out of the last two sets including a few rounds on the autocross course and normal daily (albeit aggressive) mixed driving.
The Yokohama AVS ES100 is another lower priced piece of rubber getting good reviews on 9-3's. No experience with that one yet. My SE came with the Yokohama 550V (available at NTB) which gave reasonable grip, no noise and all season performance.
Search on Sumitomo here at SAABNET. You should get a few hits on those too. I recall many reporting an excellent price for the performance on some of their offerings.
Hope this helps!
