Mike Lynch: "You just wanted him to fix it, whatever it is, without any symptoms?....Did the car need to be left overnight and driven the next morning while cold?"
perhaps i was not clear in the 1st post. the noise only happens in cold weather. car must be cold as well, best if sitting overnight. dealer response was 'bring it in 1st thing in the morning'. by the time i get to the dealership, 25 miles away, car is warmed up.
Mike Lynch: "You had a valid opportunity and it wasn't serious enough so you let the warranty expire and now you don't feel that's right?"
I brought the car to dealer 4 times last winter while under warranty to be fixed. they couldn't find the problem. I do not have alot of time to mess with bringing the car to the dealer and winter is short, and when the warm weather comes around, the noise is nonexistent, and as you elightened us all to the fact they can't diagnose a problem they can't see or hear, so there was no sense in returning until problem resurfaced.
Mike Lynch: "And you're on your second set of struts which you claim are in need of replacement after only 26,000 miles?....Who says the struts need replacing after 26K?"
also, in case you missed it, i said '...out of warranty, they find...' where the 'they' refers to the DEALERSHIP. and for your last little quip
Mike Lynch: "And as I said it wasn't serious enough for you to hassle with."
perhaps you may not view multiple trips for a problem to be repaired only to be told 'couldn't reproduce problem' as 'not a hassle', any time i have to take time out of my day to try to get someone to do something they should have done the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd time, that is a big hassle. i do things like my brakes, oil changes, plugs, filters and small items like that myself. i bring the car to the dealer to have my cracked dash replaced, burnt out light bulbs in the dash, cracked dashboard, struts, and the heater fan replaced to name a few. amaybe you should take the time to read and fully comprehend a posting prior to posting some blind, ignorant reply.
