Dealer checked the master cylinder and breaking system and found no malfunctions. They feel the low brake pedal is due to my replacement pads. The pads are not OEM Saab pads, but "performance pads" from a Saab Performance parts company (advetised on this site). The Tech at the dealer showed me how the new pads are cut at an angle and have less of a brake surface than OEM pads. He then said this could cause reduced braking on the rotos and thus the lower pedal feel. Back brakes are fine. The tech also asked if I had the rotors resurfaced when the pads were installed. When I told him they did not resurface them he said this also contributes to poor pad braking.
They also checked my complaint of heavy vibrations when I put the car in reverse, and found the transmission mount in need of repair and changed it under warranty. Problem with vibration solved!
I'm contemplating what to do with my front pad situation. The car still stops as the pads do grip, but not even close to the original pad strength - especially considering that the new "perfomance" pads are suppose to be more effective, create less dust and wear longer. So far, none are true. Since I ordered them online and had an ind. Saab mechanic install them I'm kind of stuck with them - right?
Any thoughts, tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
