Well, I got my 9-3ss last night. It is nice! Yes, I do miss the hatchback and I am sure I will miss it even more the first time something doesn't fit in the trunk. But enough about that. This car looks great and drives even better.
My is black with gray interior- looks real sleek. It has the launch, touring, and sport wheel package. I am still figuring out the plethora of buttons and controls. The pickup from the 175hp engine is good..better then the 185hp of my 2000 9-3.
I really didn't want the 17" wheels. My first Saab, a '97 900SE had them and the ride was incredibly harsh, and the car would get stuck in snow flurries. The dealer had this car, and the truth is, it looks great with these wheels and tires (225/45) so I took it. While a bit harsher then the 2000 9-3 and its 15" wheels, it is better then that '97. The car is also quieter, and has just a better feel to it.
The dash is nicely laid out once you get accustomed to it. That took me about a day. I think if the center portion of it- the radio and climate control was slightly turned torwards the driver would have been even better.
The radio sound is okay. I really have cranked it up yet, and I still have to load up five more cd's into it. The OnStar buttons are there, but it isn't functional yet as other posts have said.
The leasing deal I got I think was great. The sticker on the car was 31,610 and my "purchase price" was about 29,150. The interest rate was .5% meaning that the total interest charge for the lease over 36 months is less then $350. Of course, there were all sorts of loyalty incentives thrown in that made pretty much impossible to say no. But after six years and two Saabs that between them saw a sunvisor with a mind of its own as the worst problem I encountered, how could I not go for a third one?
Finally, there are the little things- the backseat double cup holder- great idea. The underdoor lights-- so when you get out the car at night you can see if your about plunk your foot into a puddle or something left by the local dog.
It looks like Saab has done well.
