Help-Engine is reving while driving?

I have a '99 9-3 with 77,000 miles (5 speed). Yesterday I had the battery replaced on the car. Today while driving, I noticed that the engine was reving after switching gears from 2nd to 3rd (reving past 2000) - this is without any extreme acceleration. The car is not over-reving at idle, for instance while sitting at a light, i.e. seems to idle fine. The reving seemed to occur after shifting while car is moving. I pulled over and shut the car off for 5 min, then restarted the car, drove off and everything seemed fine. I have never known the car to do this, so I think it is weird. No check engine lights are coming on or any other warning lights.
Is this over reving due to the computer re-setting itself with a new battery? Or is this a sign of the clutch going? The clutch seems fine, no noise while engaging, so I am not sure what is going on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
