I had the same problem with my car, and still do randomly on larger bumps. My problem was the exhaust, and the clamps were holding the exhaust in place well enough. I had a BSR cat-back put on my car, and im sure it was the shop that put it on didnt secure the exhaust enough. I just described to my dealer the same as you did in your post and when i picked the car up they told me it was the exhaust bumping around and they fixed it, and sure enough the noise was gone. Now, a few months later i periodically get the noise, and also the creak Lutfisk described in a previous post. I think its just the cold and maybe the clamps loosened up a bit. I get the noise so rarely now that i dont like to bother the dealer with it, my dealer is very nice and does little jobs for free such as that exhaust fix. They probably shouldnt have dont the exhaust fix for free, since i put a cat-back on and they knew i had it but they are nicer than most. They also altered the remote beep when you lock the doors. I just had the beeps turned off, but it seems that many people get charged for stupid little things like that. I know the dealer has to charge on things, but for them it is just so easy. Not only is the actual dealer you go to important but the service representative is even more. I get the same person every time if i can, and he knows all my probelems ive had, and dealt with me since i bought the car. If you get a different person every time, they wont care about you and wont care if you get charged for little things. If your nice to them, they will be nice back(hopefully). If you have a bad dealer dont count on them just fixing it for free if your not under warranty or have an aftermarket exhaust.
Best of luck, Will
