Well, just got done with a rather heated discussion with Saab people on this whole thing.
The way this whole discount thing seems to work is as follows:
- There is no current Saab discount on any 9-3 models aside from the $1000 GM loyalty.
- Saab gives the dealer the GM supplier discount regardless of who actually buys the car. This is on top of any other dealer incentives, including holdback (2.2 percent I think)
- If GM employee purchases the car, the dealer is obligated to apply the entire discount (currently $2500) to the price of the vehicle.
- If Joe Carbuyer shows up, it is completely up to the dealer how much, or how little of this is actually applied to the purchase price. Whatever does not get applied to the price goes into the dealers piggy bank as profit (and the sales agents larger comission).
