My 96 turbo will misfire and light the check engine light once warmed up if I go anywhere into boost. Usually only happens on highway drives as short around town runs do not give the engine enough time to heat up.
It is NOT gas for me. Started happening in November and is heat related as it only does it when the car is warmed up. Mechanic hasn't been able to fix it yet...we tried the DI cassette to no avail and he hasn't been able to experience the problem himself due to cold temperatures in Toronto. Hopefully will warm up soon so he can diagnose easier.
Hell...only reason I noticed it in November was I drove down to New Orleans...as I went south and it got warmer...the problem got worse. In New Orleans I parked the car even as it was almost impossible to drive. As I drove back north on the way back and it got colder...it got better and finally when I saw snow the problem was gone.
Over the winter here it's been getting worse though little by little. Waiting for the first warm day I have time off to take it in to the shop again for our next try.
