It can be installed just like in your Mustang with a little modification. The antenna cable end in a Euro car is different than a US car. You'll need a "jumper" that most car stereo shops will have.
The 9-3 has an audio head (that you see) and a Electronic Head Unit (EHU) that you don't see. The EHU runs the whole system. The FM modulator will plug into the antenna cable just like you have now. Our dealer in Denville, NJ has installed several.
We used a Terk antenna on a 9-5 and it fit nicely behind the sharkfin, the wires hide nicely.
We are pushing hard to get XM into the factory ASAP. There is one vendor out there who has done some work to develope an XM system that will work on the fiber optic bus we use. They are just dragging their feet badly.
If you have any questions, call or write. I won't be here Monday 4/28.
