I'm 6'4 also with a long torso. I have no problems with headroom - in fact, I'm able to have the seat not all the way back and down, as I had to in my '97 900. I've driven the 9-5 and don't find that it fits me any better than the 9-3SS does. You may need to fiddle with the seat some more.
The radio controls look busy, but the ones you normally use are easy to get at, and you can use the steering wheel controls for most of it. Like any new car, it takes some getting used to. I had worried that the "Main menu" display would be distracting, but I don't even see it when driving.
I have to agree on the stalks, though. Just bad design, with a sharp edge.
I paid $30.7K for my Arc with sunroof, heated seats and Touring Package. Not bad at all. A 9-5 would have cost me at least $8K more and I don't like the 9-5 (but I do miss the hatchback - just didn't want to wait for a possible future 9-3 wagon.)
