Worth of financial advice.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Thu, 8 May 2003 16:19:23 In Reply to: Incentives vs Financing, nitt79, Thu, 8 May 2003 10:25:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Folks acquire wealth from a whole bunch of different methods. Some scrimp and save, some work, some invest and some just come by it from family or inheritance. There seems to be alot of different effective stratagies.
In my family the motto is "A man who can't live beyond his means shows a lack of imagination." I always preface my financial advice with that quote as most of the folks who buy or lease from me have a whole lot more money than I do.
For example I always counsel people not to throw money at 0% deals. If they're going to give you the money for free why buy the balance down? Quite the contrary lots of well off folks throw lots of money at 0% deals because of payment objectives and just because they can, and they all have more money than I do!
It's currently true that you'll always have a lower payment with the 0% than taking the incentive and financing at conventional rates. I do have a customer who's putting $15k down and financing the balance with a home equity loan at 4% (I bet that's the intro rate). That leaves a balance of $20k ish and 4% interest, that you can write off your taxes, means that the incentive works better for them.
Lots of different stratagies with lots of different answers, and Saab caters to them all with outstanding value no matter how you want to do it, lease, cash or financing.
