Delphi SkyFi XM radio install help

I have purchased the Delphi SkyFi XM radio. I plan to install it with an FM modulator for use with the OEM head unit. I am wondering if anyone else has installed this unit and has recommendations for mounting locations. I am considering either:
1. Removing the ash tray "cubby hole" and mounting the cradle and tuner there. The advantages are proximity to power from the power point and/or amp harness and ease of wiring to the head unit. The size is also right for a very integrated appearance – with no exposed wiring. I am concerned however that this is a "low" location that will require me to look down quite a bit and a location where the receiver will also be partially blocked by the manual transmission; or
2. Purchasing the small Saab phone cradle mount and attaching the unit there. This would provide unobstructed access to the driver, but might interfere with the front passenger's leg room. This location may also have more of an "ad-on" appearance and be more prone to theft.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would also appreciate suggestions on antenna mounting and routing of the antenna wire. Also, what type of antenna adapter is suitable (e.g. does Saab use a VW antenna adapter as it does wiring harness? Does the Saab AM antenna require an active bias?)
