High performance pads will squeal and dust. The compromise is shifted toward braking performance. There are pads available in the aftermarket that will shift the compromise toward quiet and dust-free, if somewhat lower, performance. An example of excellent pads that are better balanced is Axxis/PBR MetalMaster pads. Your new 9-3, being so new, may not have any aftermarket support yet. You may have to wait a while before you'll be able to find a replacement. Another idea is to wait until the new Chevy Malibu comes out. It should have the identical Opel Vectra brakes and I am sure the pads will be more "civilian." So check with your local Chevy dealer in October.
Or just learn to ignore the noise. After all, it helps you stop sooner :-)
