On a non-saab which I installed a fairing (555 model) which the original extender(strut) had the same problem. What I did, went to a metalshop and made an extended bar longer (cost me $20), premeasured and drilled two holes (actually three on the middle one as it was a bit longer), painted it black and voila it sits ontop of the windshield.
