Newbie needs help with CLUNK

Just bought my first Saab -- a Certified Pre-Owned 2000 9-3 SE with 23,000 miles. Everything sounded great the first day, but soon noticed a hollow, loose-sounding clunk in the front, right area when hitting bumps, potholes or manhole covers. The left side can hit the same bumps with no problem. But right just doesn't sound good. Even at very low speeds.
Took it to local dealer (different city from where I bought the car). All sounds they heard were normal, and no problem was found in shocks and struts were good.
Wondering if anyone had other thoughts about what this might be? I've driven it a few more days, with a few more people riding with me, and everyone agrees that it sounds like a problem. My only guess is that the dealer didn't hit the right sort of holes to hear the sounds (sometimes it isn't so obvious).
If it isn't shocks or struts, what else could I have them check over?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
erik
