I don't have a 9-3, but I do have a '98 900 SETC...traded in a 10 month old VW GTI on it...
Even though it now has 108,000 miles (93,000 when I bought it), I have had nothing go wrong with it except for normal wear and tear items. Truthfully, this is the most reliable car I have ever owned (over 15 cars in the last 17 years - all except 2 were brand new). I really had my doubts buying a used car with so many miles, but I have not at all been disappointed!
The reason I did go ahead and buy the car (even with the mileage)...I bought it from the original selling dealership, all maintenance records were available (all done at the same dealer), the previous owner also had an extended warranty (and all repair orders from it - both of them actually), and I jsut happened to get in touch with the previous owner (at the SAAB dealer of all places!) - miles were all due to the fact that she worked in LA and Seattle and drove back and forth every other month!
Plus it was a rare color, available on the vert, so I HAD to get it!
