Hey guys...can anyone give me a definitive answer to this? I've heard answers of yes and no on here. I dunno which to believe.

My climate knob (as many of you know hehe) was fixed about 3 mos ago (for like the 4th time) 1 day before my warranty expired. About 2 weeks ago, when turning it, it made a cracking sound. The knob still feels the same...but the slight cracking sound it made that one time signals to me that it could go again soon.

Wanting to take advantage of a possible goodwill warranty repair, I called the dealer right away to make an appointment. They said, if they find a problem, they contact SAAB, and likely will get the goodwill to be approved. However, if they don't find a problem, then I'd need to pay for the diagnosis (ie taking the dash apart and putting it back).

I've missed my last 2 appointments for this due to being busy at work, but its given me time to think. Does that repair done 3 mos ago really have a 1 year warranty? If thats the case, then I don't even need the goodwill approval. If thats not the case, then I'm worried they will find nothing wrong, and fix nothing, and charge me for diagnosis. The knob still works, it just made a slight cracking sound 1 time...I worry they'll find nothing wrong. Someone said the 1 year warranty on SAAB repairs is only if you pay for it? I'm going to call the dealer again tomorrow, if there is indeed a 1 year repair on it, then I still have 9 more mos, and I may as well wait until the thing actually breaks, no?

Thanks
Alex
(Perhaps the most fussy SAAB owner on earth.....trying to delay the inevitable tearing apart of my dashboard)
