Things not to like about the M-B C230K sedan:
(1)A foot operated emergency brake on the floor, just like Grampa's Buick, even if you want the 6-speed manual. (The Cadillac CTS has the ebrake on the floor too.) It may seem a picky point but if you live in hill country it sure isn't. (2) The 6-speed has poor shift quality with the 1-2 shift tending to hang up between the gates. (3) The throttle pedal was so stiff you'd get uneven calf muscle development. (4) The guages, dash and console looked cheap (but they'll get an update early 04.) (5) M-B's kwality problems.
Things to like:
(1) Incredibly solid feeling. (2)Engine is surprisingly refined and powerful with linear power delivery. (3) Great driving position and seat. (4) A superb highway cruiser.
It's not as sporty as the 9-3SS but different strokes for different folks.
In Canada M-B cut the price of the sedan $4500 for MY03. That tells me it wasn't selling and likely has a high depreciation rate despite M-B's blather about its stellar resale values.
