Brake Work - DIY Service Questions Posted by Ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan) on Sun, 7 Dec 2003 13:44:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am about to place an order at eEuroparts.com for:
- a set of parking break shoes
- pair of front break pads
- pair of frong break rotors
A few questions:
1. I hope/anticipate that the parking break shoes will restore the original 3-4 "click" lock that I used-to achieve with one arm. I am currently using two arms and several "clicks" to achieve an actual wheel lock. Will purchase of new emergency break shoes solve this problem?
2. How involved is replacement of both pads and rotors (DIY or is a mechanic recommended)? If I can achieve this on my own, should a set of screws be purchased to mount the rotors? These are not cheap at $2.50 a piece. I assume the screws from the current pair of worn rotors will remove easily.
3. For a whopping $2.50, I purchased a check valve for my locked passenger-side front windshield washer nozzle. How involved is this replacement? (Again, is a mechanic needed).
FINALLY, for all of the above, if I do seek a mechanic, how many labor hours for all of this is reasonable?
