I am leasing a 2001 9-3. The lease is up September 2004 and I have 52K miles on it now on a lease that allows 36k. (with a .20/mile penalty) The question is do I take the loss now and get into a new 2003 or 2004 or wait until later? If I terminate early I will owe about 6,000+ (3,000+ remaining lease payment plus $3,000+ in milage penalty). If I wait until the end of the lease and turn the car in I will probably owe $6,000+ in milage charges. Or I could buy the car for $13,000++ but it will probably only be worth $8,500+- (72k mi.+-). I am thinking that the incentives and/or 0% financing may not be available in September. Since SAAB does not lease in NY and I drive too many miles anyway, I will probably buy my next car. I would not mind buying a new 2003 now since I drive so much resale value is never good. What are the incentives on remaining 2003? Any thoughts are appreciated.
