yes, my fogs illuminate the side of the roads. Unfortunately most think more it "looks good" (no offence) and I must admit in my younger days (although not that long ago), I was in that category always having them on as well.
e-codes are for "European-code" (I think). Therefore, these are the lenses that those across the pond get. It is improved lighting by manipulation of the light pattern. Over there, the cutoff is sharper, and thus a different light "beam" is emitted (farther? down the road). Although not available here in the US because of DOT requirements*, Nick is importing the lenses (which is nice because one does not need to buy the entire housing); a simple "swap" can be done on our end. If somehow I don't pass NY inspection next spring, I'll swap out for the old lenses.
Daniel Stern Lighting is noted most places for good info, so I will link below. I will also try to get before and after pics, but it is difficult due to the camera (Daniel Stern explains this on his site) - it can "play tricks" on you. I planned on this anyway, I just need to find an accessibly dark place. One where I can setup the camera to get a pick (dark enough to notice the "pattern"), then able to make the change (a few clips to R+R), and then take an after pick with only changing the lenses, thus limiting the "variables." I'll let everyone know how it goes and post to my site (here first though, of course!).
My other concern is to add some lense "protection" so I have been debating on that. Good luck. Thanks.
Sean
*e-Codes are not legal in all/most states. I am not suggesting you change your lenses for these - insert legal disclaimer, yadda yadda.. The link goes to his homepage, and more info then you were probably looking for!
