My Viggen has a bad head gasket

Monday I reported that my 99 viggen up and quit on me driving to work. The car was running great, temp ok, etc. up to the point it stopped. Mechanics found the problem, no compression in center two cylinders. A head gasket is the most likely culprit. Shame on me for not re-torquing the headbolts :-( If I read some posts correctly, sometimes the problem may be solved by simply retorquing the head bolts now? Hasn't the gasket been compromised? Also, does the head have to be resurfaced or does that depend on wether it is warped from the gasket failure?
