T-5 ECU upgrade

I'm considering the purchase of a performance ECU for my '99 9-3. I spoke with Genuine Saab and have become interested in their Nordic Tuning upgrade from Sweden. I have already installed a high flow air intake and a Saab Sport cat-back exhaust system, which would allow me to use the Stage 2 ECU. They say it will produce about 240 hp and 256 ft pounds torque.
Anyone with experience in this sort of thing? I don't "beat up" my cars--but I do occasionally enjoy spirited driving. Are these things safe? The last thing I want to do is to cook my motor.
