You won't save much money. A brake job isn't that expensive....

On the other hand, do you know how much pad you have left? In theory, your brakes will run out gracefully and give you a loud audio warning. However, it might not, and damage your rotors. (Yes, I knew people who drove until their brake system failed completely...didn't have a clue...didn't change his oil either...)

Also, with less brake pads, the rotors are more likely to warp (theory many peopl have), causing more damage$$$.

If you drive slowly and short distances in flat city area, and will check your brake pads regularly (taking off the wheels to do so), sure... penny pinch for a few more weeks/months...
