I have a 99 93 with 70k that I bought with 30k and it has been the best car that I have ever owned. Once in a while I will loose a little coolant throught the refill cap when it is very hot. You know this because there is a left over residue of precipatate after the liquid evaporates around the resivoir. This is normal to some extent for any car in my opinion. If the seller has all of the oil change records you can make a good guess for the engins overall health. In my opinion the most important thing is oil changes at short intervals then next the quality of the oil. I personally go to J-lube every 3k and get the cheap oil and filter changed. Some people say you need synthetic blend and you can go to 5k intervals. I would rather use the cheap stuff for shorter intervals. Now that the miles are getting higher I am considering to go to synthetic. I used to drive 900's with well over 150k on them with synthetic oil and I never had any problems with them. I am getting ready to pull the valve cover myself to check for sludge and I will retorque the head bolts just to be safe. The more you change your coolant the better the condition of you head gasket as well.
bottom line:
My 99 93 has been the best car that I have ever owned mechanically.
Good luck
