On my 2000 Viggen, I was getting a check engine light that on a couple of occasions would blink.
Also, when shifting, I could hear a repeated whisting sound kind of like a horse whinnying.
The car was throwing a P1110 code, pointing to the CAB valve, which I think stands for charge air bypass. First I replaced the CAB valve, but the check engine light came back after 100 miles or so. Then I replaced the 3 vacuum lines going to the CAB valve, but the CEL still came back.
(Watch out when replacing the vacuum lines. There's a plastic nipple with two vacuum connections coming off the intake manifold. This is brittle, and I broke mine, necessitating a trip to the dealer.)
The CAB valve is what controls the BPV. The BPV is the gadget that opens when you lift off the throttle, so that compressed air goes back to the turbo inlet. It keeps the turbo spinning, so that it comes on faster when you get back into the throttle.
I've been running a couple hundred miles with no CEL and no whinnying sound, so I think I've fixed the problem.
Good luck!
Dave
