In my experience, Pirellis wear fast. In the past, I've had two sets of P7000 Summers and one set of P7000 M+S-and the all seasons, despite having a higher treadwear rating over the Suimmers (320 vs 160), they wore equally fast. I got about 12-15k out of all three sets. I had these sets on my departed '94 900SET, whic originally came with MXMs.

Ironically, the MXMs lasted much longer (45k miles) despite their 140 treadwear rating, but were atrocious in the rain. I'm apprehensive about ever going back to Miichelins, because the tires I've owned (MXV4s MXMs) just don't provide adequate wet traction and they're just too darned expensive. I loved the Pirellis, but they wore too quickly, and even though they were half of what MXMs were going for at the time, I was buying a new set once a year-so costwise, it was a wash.

I also had a set of Bridgestone S-02 PPs which were the best tires I ever had (before the GS-D3s), but the S-02s felt heavy in cold weather and loud when worn. I squeezed about 18k out of them.

I have a set of Yokohama AVS ES100s on another car, and they seem decent. I thought they were pretty good until I got GS-D3s on the 9-5, so it's an unfair comparison. The GS-D3s are in a league of their own. All tires I've had pale in comparison to the GS-D3s.

Time will tell if these tires remain good over their lifespan (whatever that may be). I'll keep y'all posted.
