a/c woes Posted by adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adam) on Sat, 23 Jul 2005 14:29:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just replaced the clutch on my a/c the old one was shot. The new one works fine. testing the unit with the old clutch it gets a continous 12 volts to the clutch.
Now though the compressor basically short cycles. It turns on for about 3-5 seconds, just long enough for the clutch to get up to full speed and then shuts of for like 20 seconds and then back on again. I bleed some coolant from the system because the pressures seemed high but no luck. I can't really even get it to stay on long enough for me to measure accurate pressures.
However first thing in the am and when I first start the car it seems to run fine, it seems that this really only happens when it is hot outside and the car has gotten really warm.
ANy ideas or suggestions appreciated. I have a replacement compressor but don't want to open the system if I don't have to.
