My A/C has always been sub par in my '99 9-3. It cant really keep me cool in anything over 90F. Best bet is to go with the #3 fan setting and close the re-circ. #4 fan just blows more, but the air is warmer, so no real gain.

Anyway, I thought perhaps it was low on refrigerant, so I got a DIY recharge kit from Kragen.

According to all the instructions I've read here ( A/C on full blast, windows and doors open) Im getting 45-50 psi at the low pressure port. Im reading at 83F on the SID which is acurate, and very low humidity (Nevada).

Acccording to what I've read, including lots of good info from the guru Dean, I should be running 33-35 psi for best results. Do you think that the higher pressue is the contributing factor to my poor A/C performance?

Assuming that I want to relieve some pressure from the system, how can it be done DIY? I hear that its illegal and unhealthly to vent this stuff into the air. I assume you could devise a hose to a bottle system, but is that feasable? I really dont want to take it to a shop, as its been 100F+ for the last week here and the A/C shops are booked up for 2 weeks. How much refrigerant will have to be removed to adjust for 10 psi? Should I attempt this?
