BG 44k (BG Products part number 208) is easily the superior product when it comes to cleaning a vehicle's entire fuel system and it has been independently shown that BG 44K is the MOST effective product available at dissolving hardened carbon deposits on the intake valve and in the combustion chamber. I've personally had the engineers at Chevron Oronite (the chemical division of Chevron USA) state to me that it takes 5 to 6 bottles of Techron concentrate to have the same effect as a single can of BG 44K.

44K is based on the same active ingredient as Chevron Techron, and that is polyetheramine or PEA. While Chevron has the original patent on the PEA technology, the BG Products company has a patent on their molecule linking process and with their induced solvency based blend.

I should note that I do not work for the BG Products company, but I am considered an expert in the automotive service industry and I back that up with over 40 years experience in the field. I am also aware that BG Products' engineers and the engineers at Chevron Oronite have signed a co-research & development agreement recently.

Someone here mentioned the need to change your oil after using BG 44K, but that is inaccurate, as changing your oil after using 44K is not necessary. Also it should be noted that polyetheramine (PEA) is only active when blended with a carrier, specifically gasoline or diesel fuel. The active ingredient of PEA is only effective if blended with a fuel, as this technology uses the fuel it is blended with as a scrubbing agent.

I'm also quite aware that locating this product can be difficult (BG develops products strictly for the industrial and commercial market and they have no consumer products division), but you can contact their local authorized distributor (go to http://www.bgprod.com for the phone # of a distributor in your area) and they will send you to a repair facility and/or dealership near you that has the product available. Its kind of expensive (I paid $25 for a 11 oz can), but the product works so well its more than worth it. I use it in both my car and truck (which is a diesel by the way) and I noted an improvement almost immediately in both of my vehicles, particularly in the area of fuel economy and emission levels.
