The belt I am 99% sure is put on right. I heard some squealing under the hood and suspected the belt may be going soon so I didn't want to drive until I got the belt replaced. Perhaps the pulley had already started to fail. I really wasn't sure what I was supposed to check for when I replaced the belt, I guess I know now.
Thanks again everybody.
BTW, for anyone who is unsure of doing this on their own, this is one of the easiest diy's even without taking the wheel off. The pulley below the tensioner is probably the hardest to reach, but is still quick, easy and cheap to do.
