I agree. Size was one reason I wanted to use the Mustang pulley, the one that turned out to be a few mm too wide.
That upper idler pulley SHOULD have been larger! I found a formula used to estimate the life of a pulley in an industrial application, and all other things being equal (temp, belt spd etc.), the bearing life is inversely proportional to the 4th power of the radius!
That is one reason why the tensioner pulley hardly ever failed on the NG900, as compared to the 9-3.
