Likelihood of blowing the headgasket?

I was driving pretty late last night no one was on the road off my exit on the highway - so I redlined the car in first gear off the stop sign. Heard a pop and the low coolant indicator showed up on the SID. My house was only a short distance away so I continued for about 4-5 minutes, coasting at 50-60km/hr, keeping RPMS steady and below 2000. As soon as I rolled into my neighbourhood, I turned the engine off and coasted into the driveway. Upon inspection, I realized that the heater core hose had a 2 inch gash and coolant had spewed everywhere. There was no coolant in the resevoir either.
I've got the new hose on order but was wondering if the short distance I drove would have been enough to blow the headgasket?
Thanks
btw, its a 97 900SE
